Blocking Twitter Content via Tweetdeck
I put this short tutorial together to help the many people I saw on Twitter who were complaining about seeing the content from the Colonel Williams trial.
To start, get yourself the latest copy of Tweetdeck and install it. It's available at tweetdeck.com
Once it's set up and you have your account created, you will see three columns. The one on your left will list all of the tweets for every person you follow. Here is where you want to filter the content.
Click the small "Filter This Column" button at the bottom of the column (second button from the left) to bring up the filtering menu. You'll see two drop down boxes and a text box.
- Choose "Text" from the first drop down box. This will allow you to filter for the content.
- Choose the minus sign "-" from the second drop down box. This will tell Tweetdeck to remove matching tweets.
- Enter the text you want to filter for. In the case of the Col. Williams trial, the hashtag "#ColRW" is being used to indicate that a tweet relates to the trial.
That's It. You should no longer see tweets related to the trial, as long as they are tagged properly.
